These gardens are a wonderful story of renewal - created from the neglected wilderness of the old walled garden belonging to the parochial house in the middle of Sligo town. Started in 2009, there is now a thriving community garden, an orchard and an apiary where local people join together to cultivate food and friendships.

Open: 2pm – 4pm on 13 July, 3 Aug

This garden was designed to lovingly envelop an old farmhouse, be strong on structure and low on maintenance. Imposing trees encompass lawns, a stream, a pond and flowering shrubs; raised beds grow organic vegetables; and there are now new steps, a wildflower meadow, an insect biome, and additional herbaceous planting.

Open: Noon - 5pm on 29 July

This half-acre coastal garden started in 2005 with the planting of boundary hedges and small stands of trees to provide shelter from  the cold, salty Atlantic winds. There are now small woodland areas, a circular herb garden, perennial borders and lawns, a pergola and a patio garden as well as a summer-house, raised fruit and vegetable beds, a polytunnel and, this year, a new wildlife pond.
